Yankurije Chantal

Thank you for purchasing a woven product from Chantal! She earns the profit from each product and by selling just a few of her items she is able to earn enough to pay for the house rent for the month.

Chantal is a single mother with two children in the home: her son Elyze and her nephew, Kevin. Chantal graduated first in class during our Joyful weaving class of 2025. She works with our other weaving class graduates, and she helps them with improving their skills. In our Joyful weaving class, 19 students studied basket weaving as well as other types of weaving with local materials such as grasses, raffia and sisals.

Chantal has really struggled to support her household since her husband left them 5 years ago. Her situation has improved by selling the products she makes through the Joyful trade program.
