Mureburayine Pierrine

Thank you for purchasing a woven product from Pierrine! She earns the profit from each product and by selling just a few of her items she is able to earn enough to pay for the house rent for the month.

Pierrine is a single mother with five children ranging in age from 18 years old to 2 years old: Sonia, Sandrine, Sedric, Sentiya and Owen. Pierrine is our top weaver and she makes beautiful products. She works with our weaving students who graduated from our trade program in 2025. In this program, 19 students studied basket weaving as well as other types of weaving with local materials such as grasses, raffia and sisals.

Pierrine has really struggled has been to make sure her kids eat and are clothed. Now she is finding that her situation has improved by selling the products she makes. She has found self-sufficiency and independence through the Joyful trade program.
